      <image:title>Episodes - Episode 1 - Healer - Resmaa Menakem</image:title>
<image:caption>The body practice mentioned in this episode on the “soul nerve” comes from Resmaa Menakem. Resmaa Menakem is the New York Times bestselling author of My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies. He is a visionary Justice Leadership coach, organizational strategist and master trainer. Resmaa is a leading voice in today’s conversation on racialized trauma. As described by On Being with Krista Tippett, Resmaa “activates the wisdom of ancestors and a very new science, about how all of us carry the history and traumas behind everything we collapse into the word “race” in our bodies. He illuminates why all of the best laws and diversity training have not gotten us anywhere near healing.” Resmaa created Cultural Somatics, which utilizes the body and resilience as mechanisms for growth.</image:caption>

<image:title>Episodes - Episode 3- Gender Beyond the Binary - Womanist Midrash by Dr. Wilda C. Gafney</image:title>
<image:caption>From the Publisher: Womanist Midrash is an in-depth and creative exploration of the well- and lesser-known women of the Hebrew Scriptures. Using her own translations, Gafney offers a midrashic interpretation of the biblical text that is rooted in the African American preaching tradition to tell the stories of a variety of female characters, many of whom are often overlooked and nameless. Gafney employs a solid understanding of womanist and feminist approaches to biblical interpretation and the sociohistorical culture of the ancient Near East. This unique and imaginative work that is grounded in serious scholarship will expand conversations about feminist and womanist biblical interpretation. <image:title>Episodes - Episode 3- Gender Beyond the Binary - Join me from the hill</image:title>
<image:caption>In today’s episode, I interview Dr. Jamie Conniff of Duluth, MN. Dr. Conniff is a family physician at Essentia Health and teaches in the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program. His expertise in both teaching and practicing medicine is with a particular focus on LGBTQ health and for providing gender-affirming healthcare. He has previous research experience on improving access and quality of care for transgender people and is particularly interested in training rural physicians to care for transgender patients. Together we are going to explore gender identity beyond the binary. We will dig into scripture and lean into Dr. Conniff’s medical experience when it comes to caring for, and loving our, transgender and non-binary siblings. For so many Christians, I think there’s this idea that if you are a person of faith, you cannot believe in science; as if trusting in science somehow goes against “what God says in the Bible” and God’s design of creation. So, what happens when we deconstruct our binary way of thinking and take a “both/and” approach to study gender? I invite you into this conversation and challenge you to stay curious. Together, we will explore that there is more nuance and beauty to God’s creation than what we ever thought would be possible.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - What’s in a name?</image:title>
<image:caption>“From the Hill” is actually what my last name, Vanden Heuvel, means in the Dutch language. It’s the name that was carried over by my ancestors from the Netherlands to the United States. With this name has come stories of people and places, both here in my home, and from lands I have yet to step my feet in. With my name has come histories of struggle, resilience, and hope—and it is what I will attempt to bring into light with this podcast—not just sharing my story, but the stories that shape both you and I in this world.</image:caption>
